A view along Chidorigafuchi, a promenade in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, looking towards the grounds of the Imperial Palace. The promenade is hugely popular for viewing cherry trees when in blossom. We arrived a little past their peak and had the promenade largely to ourselves.

In his 'Famous Places of Edo,' Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) created prints depicting this same area. One of them can be seen in the 'A Visit to the Tokyo National Museum' gallery.
