The fruits one finds in Thailand make for a great variety of tastes, textures, and colors. Some will be familiar to Western visitors, others perhaps not so. Fresh markets are up and running very early in the morning around the country, offering a wide selection of choices, including—depending on the season—durian, mangoes, papayas, mangosteen, rambutan, bananas, dragon fruit, and more. Fruit is also found at floating markets, and street vendors set up their stands on sidewalks in the cities, offering freshly prepared morsels that are ready to eat.
