Eikan-do Temple, Kyoto, in Fall Color 2 - Jim Wageman

As noted in the previous gallery, Eikan-do dates from the 9th century. A temple was erected on the present grounds in the year 853, and in 863 the Emperor Seiwa named the new temple "Zenrin-ji," Temple in a Calm Grove, a name that seems more than fitting even today. To see the temple's trees bursting with color in the bright autumn sunshine was truly an experience of a lifetime.
